66-DAY JOURNEY OF THE BIBLE
Day 60 - 1 Peter (Born Again)
“having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, because "All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, But the word of the Lord endures forever." Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.” (1 Peter 1:23-25)
Jesus first coined the phrase “born again” when He spoke to Nicodemus in John chapter 3 about how he can enter the kingdom of God. In our text above, the apostle Peter uses the phrase “born again” to refer to those who are followers of Christ who have been saved through the eternal Word of God. In other words, a person who is not born- again is not saved and cannot enter the kingdom of God.
Since being born again seals a person for eternal life, the most important question in life, therefore, is: How does one become born again? The key is the Word of God. God, speaking through the apostle Peter says that those who are born of man’s seed will end up in corruption because “all flesh is as grass” that withers. The Word of God, however, is “incorruptible which lives and abides forever.”
Jesus is called The Word of God in Scriptures and those who put their trust in Him as Lord and Savior become born again “of water (which is the Word of God) and the Spirit (The Holy Spirit).” (John 3:6) So, have you been born again? If not, ask Christ right now to forgive you of your sins and give you the gift of eternal life.
