66-DAY JOURNEY OF THE BIBLE
Day 57 - Philemon (Thanking God for Others)
“I thank my God, making mention of you always in my prayers, 5 hearing of your love and faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints, 6 that the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.” (Philemon 4-6)
Many of us will be making new year’s resolution today. I, for one, have several resolutions of my own and one of those is, like the apostle Paul, I want to thank God more often for the people whom He has placed in my life starting with family and friends.
One thing that God has taught me is that nothing is more valuable in life than people. When everything in this world fades and vanishes, people’s souls will remain forever. I know that on my deathbed I will not wish that I acquired more stuff or worked more hours or travelled to more places; rather, I know that my regret will be that I wished I had spent more time thanking God for the special people in my life as well as thanking them.
“Father, I thank you for my wife and children and for my parents who are now with you and for my siblings and their families and for all the friends whom You have given me. Help me to express my love and appreciation more this year to all the people You have placed in my life. In Your Son’s name I pray, amen.”
