66-DAY JOURNEY OF THE BIBLE
Day 56 - Titus (How a Christian should Live)
“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.” (Titus 2:11-14)
The Lord Jesus is the grace of God that brought salvation to all men. He taught us through His Word and His example how to live a godly life. As children of God, we are to say no to ungodliness and worldly lust. We are to keep all things in moderation even though those things are not evil in itself such as food or drink. We are to live godly in this present world and keep our eyes fixed unto Jesus and His coming again.
Thankfully, we are not left on our own to live the impossible life that Christ showed us. Jesus Himself provided everything that we need in order to live a godly life. He first gave Himself to die for us to redeem or rescue us from every sin and to make us holy and zealous for good works.
Then after Jesus ascended to heaven, He left us the Holy Spirit, God Himself, to dwell inside every person who surrenders his life completely to Christ. The Holy Spirit seals the believer unto the Day when Christ returns to bring us with Him. The Holy Spirit also enables every believer to understand God’s Word as we read and listen to it and He empowers us to live the impossible life of a Christian.
As you start this new year, I pray that you will also start, if you have not yet done so, to live the life that God intended you to live - the impossible life of a godly believer. If you don’t know where to start, ask the heavenly Father to give you the Holy Spirit, and He will. Then, just let the Holy Spirit lead and guide you in everything, and He will.
