Ezra came up from Babylon; and he was a skilled scribe in the Law of Moses, which the Lord God of Israel had given. The king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the Lord his God upon him.  Some of the children of Israel, the priests, the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the Nethinim came up to Jerusalem in the seventh year of King Artaxerxes.... On the first day of the first month he began his journey from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.  For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the Law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach statutes and ordinances in Israel.  (Ezra 7:6-10)

In chapter 1 of the book of Ezra, it says that God spoke through Cyrus, King of Persia who took over the Babylonian empire in October of 539 B.C. when he made a proclamation and said, “Who is among you of all His people? May his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem which is in Judah, and build the house of the Lord God of Israel (He is God), which is in Jerusalem.” (Ezra 1:3)  Later in chapter 7 we read that “Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the Law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach statutes and ordinances in Israel.”  (Ezra 7:10)  Today, God is still calling for His people everywhere in the world to partake in the building of God’s Kingdom by spreading the gospel.  Have you prepared your heart to seek the Law of the Lord and to teach it to others?
