Day 23 - Isaiah

Day 23 - ISAIAH - (How God Regards Our Righteous Works)
(to check out past posts, click: tonyvicreyes.blogspot.com )

But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.  (Isaiah 64:6)

When I read and understood the meaning of the above verse, it proved to be the greatest reality check in my entire life and still is to this day.  The phrase “filthy rags” refers to what women in the time of Isaiah used as sanitary napkin after the fact.  When I learned that, I realized that my very best act of righteousness was completely abhorrent to God!

If that is the case, there is only one hope for me and for all human beings to be accepted by God, that is, through the merit of another who is perfect and sinless.  Praise God, He provided the only way possible for mankind to be saved from the penalty of sin; He sent His only begotten Son Jesus to die in our place and He has declared that anyone who believes (puts their faith and trust) in Him will not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).  Are you still relying on your own goodness to bring you to heaven?  Forsake that path now and trust in Christ alone to save you while you still can.
