Day 35 - Zephaniah

Day 35 - Zephaniah (Seek the Lord While He May be Found)
(to check out past posts, click: tonyvicreyes.blogspot.com )

“Seek the Lord, all you meek of the earth, Who have upheld His justice. Seek righteousness, seek humility. It may be that you will be hidden In the day of the Lord's anger.”  (Zephaniah 2:3)

God sent the prophet Zephaniah to proclaim a warning of coming judgment and to encourage repentance.
In the text above, Zephaniah urges God’s people to seek the Lord so that they could escape the coming judgment.  The prophet Isaiah wrote about the same thing:

Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near.”  (Isaiah 55:6)

The warning applies to us as well.  The New Testament teaches that “it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.”  (Hebrews 9:27)  You and I do not know if we will live to see another day.  No words can describe the tragedy that awaits a person who neglected to seek the Lord and to repent while he yet lived.  The judgment that the Bible refers to is none other than eternity in hell.

I do not particularly enjoy writing about judgment and hell but I have no business at all writing about the Bible if I avoid some parts because it is unpleasant.  At the beginning of this 66-Day journey, I committed to write about a short commentary of each book of the Bible and I pray that God would help me be faithful to His Word.  And so again, I urge you my friend, seek the Lord while He may be found, before it is too late for you.
