Day 36 - Haggai

66-DAY JOURNEY OF THE BIBLE
Day 36 - Haggai (The Glory of the Latter Temple)
(to check out past posts, click: tonyvicreyes.blogspot.com )

“The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,' says the Lord of hosts. 'And in this place I will give peace,' says the Lord of hosts."  (Haggai 2:9)

When God spoke about the latter temple, He referred to the temple that replaced the magnificent temple that King Solomon built according to the plans as given by none other than God Himself.  That temple was attributed to Zerubbabel but then was gutted and rebuilt by King Herod the Great.  Now, God could not have possibly referred to Herod’s temple as exceeding the glory of the first temple.

Obviously, God was referring to a temple that is perfect for that is the only kind that can exceed the glory of the first.  The New Testament refers to the believer’s physical body as the temple of God:

“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?  For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.”  (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

If you are a true believer, then you know the glorious experience of being the temple of God.  There is nothing in this world that can compare to being filled with the Spirit of God; to be led moment by moment by the God of the universe and to be used for His own purpose and glory!  This truth could only be experienced by a believer who is living a consecrated life and who by faith believes that he is filled with the Spirit of God.

God is offering this divine privilege to become His holy temple to anyone who would repent of his sins and confess Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.  Would you do that today?
