66-DAY JOURNEY OF THE BIBLE
Day 51 - Colossians (Jesus is God)
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. (Colossians 1:15-17)
I was just reading an article the other day about how to prove that Jesus is God using the passage above by simply drawing two boxes. On one box is written inside: “All things that were ever created” and on the other box is written inside: “Creator”. Where would you place Jesus who is being described in the text above as being the One who created all things?
Obviously, if Jesus created all things that ever existed, it would be impossible that He also created Himself. It follows, therefore, that Jesus could only be placed in the box labeled “Creator” and He must by the definition of Creator be God Himself.
Have you been regarding Jesus as your Creator or have you been regarding Him as if He was just another created being? You might want to pray the prayer below for yourself:
Lord Jesus, please forgive me for not giving you the reverence and obedience you deserve as God. Please help me from this day on to worship and obey you as the God of the universe and as my Creator. Reveal yourself to me and mold me into the kind of person you want me to be. Amen.
